Transfer Stations
A Transfer Station is a facility that receives waste from locations further away from landfills, with the aim of improving the efficiency of waste transport generated in municipalities that are far from the treatment facility, thus fulfilling the objective of optimising circuits and coordinating with local authorities to optimise costs in an agile manner.
VALNOR has eight transfer stations located in the municipalities of Abrantes, Castelo Branco, Castelo de Vide, Elvas, Idanha-a-Nova, Ponte de Sôr, Portalegre, and Proença-a-Nova. These stations receive waste delivered by municipal collection vehicles, which is deposited and compacted inside a semi-trailer. Once full, the semi-trailer is transported to its final destination for recovery.
